For international visitors

Buy and register a vehicle in the USA, even if you do not live here.

Montana is the one state that does not ask you for residency, a US driver's license or a vehicle inspection. We prepare the paperwork and handle the state submissions, so you can put a vehicle in your own name and drive.

Registration starts at $995 per vehicle. No hidden charges: you see the full total before you pay.

You have probably already been told no.

Most visitors reach us after a dealer or a state office has turned them away. These are the four reasons you will have heard.

  • You do not hold a US driver's license.
  • You do not have a US home address to register against.
  • A dealer will not sell to somebody without a local address or a social security number.
  • Your state office says a non-resident cannot register a vehicle there.

Each of those is true in most states. It is not true in Montana, which is why every vehicle we handle is registered there.

Three steps

Tell us about the vehicle

Type, year, value, and whether it is financed. It takes about two minutes and gives you a full price on screen.

We prepare and submit the paperwork

We establish your Montana presence, complete the forms and file them with the state. You sign digitally, wherever you are.

Your plates and title arrive

A temporary tag is included so you can drive right away. Plates and title follow by mail, to any address in the world.

Why Montana

Vehicle ownership in the United States is governed state by state, and the rules differ enormously. Montana is the only state where all four of these are true at once.

No residency

You do not have to live in Montana, or in the United States.

No US license

Your license from home is enough. You never need a US one.

No inspection

No emissions test and no physical check of the vehicle.

No sales tax

Montana charges none, in most situations.

A Montana registration is valid in all 50 states, and in Canada and Mexico. The vehicle never has to enter Montana, and neither do you.

One flat price per vehicle

$995 covers a car, motorcycle, trailer, boat, off-road machine or kei truck. An RV or motorhome is $1,299.99. A 40-day temporary tag is included at no charge on every order.

Some vehicles carry an extra charge: newer than four model years, financed, or $150,000 MSRP or above. The finder shows you every line before you pay.

Common questions

Is this permitted?

Yes. Montana allows non-residents to register a vehicle there, and a Montana registration is recognized in every other state. We follow the state's own process, we do not work around it.

Does the vehicle have to go to Montana?

No. The vehicle never has to enter the state, at any point, and neither do you. Everything is handled remotely.

Do I need a US driver's license?

No. Registering a vehicle and driving one are separate things in the United States. You register with your own identification, and you drive on the license issued by your home country.

How long does it take?

Your temporary tag is issued quickly so you can drive while the rest is processed. Plates and title follow by mail. Timing depends on the state's own queue and on where your documents are traveling from.

What happens when I leave the country?

You can keep the vehicle registered, ship it home, or sell it. We can handle the sale for you if you would rather not deal with it from abroad.
